What is a credit?

Company Data
/dataSelect the fields you need for one or more companies. Pricing is per field, charged only when data exists. Lightweight fields like core registry data and officers are 1 credit each. Richer fields like financials, energy and emissions, and corporate structure range from 2 to 5 credits. Historical financials and historical energy and emissions are 5 credits per year of history, capped at 25 credits. A typical sales-rep lookup with company info, latest financials, officers, and PSCs is around 9 credits.

Company Search
/searchRun structured filters to find matching UK companies. Each successful search costs 10 credits and returns a paginated list of company numbers. Empty result sets are free. Maximum results per call scales with your tier, from 5 on Sandbox to 100 on Enterprise.

Context Retrieval
/contextRetrieve company news, tagged website sections, full annual accounts narratives, and AI-extracted filing sections for RAG and agent workflows. News and website lookups cost 10 credits when content is returned. Accounts preview mode is 1 credit per filing; accounts extraction is 10 credits per filing. Empty result sets are free.

/disambiguateResolve a free-text company name or domain into a verified UK company number. 10 credits per successful resolution. Returns zero candidates for free, useful for AI agents validating company references before deeper data fetches.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do credits work?
One credit equals one unit of data work. Most non-/data endpoints charge 10 credits when results are returned; /context/accounts can also charge per filing, with preview mode at 1 credit per filing. The /data endpoint is priced per field, charged only when data exists, ranging from 1 to 5 credits per field. A single Magic Insight (coming soon) is 25 credits. What happens if I hit my monthly credit limit?
On Sandbox, requests soft-fail with a 402 response when you exhaust your allowance. On paid tiers, requests continue at the per-tier overage rate, billed at the end of the month. We notify you at 80% and 100% of your included credits so there are no surprises.
Is there a free trial on paid tiers?
Yes. All paid tiers come with a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start, no auto-conversion to paid. You can also stay on Sandbox indefinitely at zero cost.
Can I use the API alongside an existing ZINT subscription?
Yes. If you have an existing ZINT account, please contact your account manager to discuss combined commercial terms.
What is Enterprise actually for?
Enterprise is for organisations that need uncapped data access (subject to a fair-use policy), custom rate limits beyond 100 r/s, white-label distribution rights, dedicated support, or LLM training-grade volumes.
